Maintenance:
Filters may become blocked by air pockets over time. To remove blockage, firmly tap and shake filter under running water.

Do not use for long-term storage. Water loses alkalinity when exposed to air. Contents should be consumed within 24 hours.
Should your Gentoo Glass jug not be used for an extended period of time (e.g. during holidays), it is recommended that you remove the filter cartridge from the jug, discard any water left in the jug, and store in a cool, dry place. Before using your Gentoo Glass jug again, please follow the filter conditioning process, repeating steps if necessary.

ecobud® use granulated activated carbon made from coconut shells. Like any natural product, this is subject to natural variances in product quality. This may lead to slight abrasions of small carbon particles into the filtered water. These present as small black particles. These particles are food grade and will have no negative effect on health if consumed. In the case that these particles appear, ecobud® recommends rinsing and vigorously shaking the filter under running water until the black particles disappear.

This Benchtop Water Filter for Town Water can be retrofitted to a standard twin system or used as a stand alone filtering for camper van, caravan, and motor homes. This Benchtop Water Filter for Town Water includes a Coconut Carbon Filter Cartridge.
Designed in an “outside-in” direction this system extends the life of the filter enormously, but like all filtration the dirtier the water, the faster the cartridge will expire.
The HIGH QUALITY coconut carbon block filter is ideal for taste and odour issues, and perfect for extraction of town water chemicals. TOP OF THE RANGE 100% coconut carbon, this particular filter is currently supplied throughout the European market as a premium drinking water filter.
It can be difficult to find 100% coconut carbon filters. Most lower priced filters on the market are a blend of coconut carbon and coal based carbon. The problem with coal based carbon is that it has a shorter life and often results in a less palatable flavour. The perfect carbon block filter is made from 100% Coconut Shell Carbon, which creates what many believe to be sweetest tasting water. The unique pore structure of this carbon is well suited for chemical absorption, including Volatile Organic Compounds, while reducing chlorine and chemicals that contribute to taste and odour.
Carbon filtration is the best form of filtration for chemical extraction due to the longer and more thorough contact time the water has with the carbon, which in turn provides an extremely comprehensive method of chemical removal. This kit has been put together to meet the needs of customers using tank water.
Tank water will always require filtration as it isn’t treated like town water supplies.
The most cost effective and total solution to do so is to use UV Sterilisation, which will ensure 100% eradication of all Bacteria and Viruses from your house water supply.
The only alternative would be to use an undersink filter for drinking water, which is effective at stopping cysts such as giardia, but won’t protect you from harmful bacteria or viruses such as E-Coli which can enter the water through frogs’ excrement. On top of this, all other taps i.e the shower, basins and other taps wont be treated so you can still be exposed to these viruses and bacteria through other means other than ingestion.
PLEASE NOTE: You will need to source your own fittings to install the system to your required specifications. Because all set ups are different, we do not supply the fittings with this kit. It is advised to employ the services of a registered plumber to install your whole house water filter system for your tank water.
The UV ballast is not waterproof and should be protected from water/moisture at all times.

Required:
Pre-treatment must include at least a 5 micron sediment filter installed prior to the unit in order to ensure that particles capable of shielding pathogens are removed from the water prior to entering the system. A shut off valve must be installed prior to the unit in order to turn the water off for servicing and to ensure the flow is restricted to the parameters of the unit. Ensure adequate clearance at the lamp connection end of the unit in order to safely remove the lamp from the chamber for servicing and lamp replacement. Space required is at least the length of the UV chamber.
EARTHING:
Before operating this unit, it must be earthed. Simply attach the supplied earthing cable connected to the chamber to an earthing rod.
TECHNICAL DATA:
UV systems are not designed to be turned on and off. Doing this will shorten your lamp life. Lamps should be changed every year. The lamp may still be working, but after 1 year, the power will not be guaranteed to kill bacteria. The unit should be cleaned regularly.
